Recently, the Lviv Regional State Administration hosted a working meeting dedicated to the region’s participation in the Unified Route of Memory—a national project within the framework of the “Heroes Policy” and the President of Ukraine’s Domestic Resilience Plan.
The following key locations have been selected to represent Lviv's role in the Russia-Ukraine war:
-Field of Honorary Burials No. 86a at Lychakiv Cemetery (Lviv) — the final resting place of modern heroes who have given their lives for Ukraine from 2014 to the present.
-Residential complexes on Melnyka, Konovaltsia, and Kokorudza Streets — located in the UNESCO buffer zone and damaged during a Russian missile strike on the night of July 5–6, 2024.
-Residential area on Stryiska Street (Nos. 50–76v) — another part of the UNESCO buffer zone that suffered significant destruction during a missile attack on September 4, 2023.
- Museum of UPA General Roman Shukhevych in Bilohorshcha — destroyed by fire caused by a drone attack on January 1, 2024.
-Tourist route “Stepan Bandera’s Paths” in Dublyany — part of the Lviv National University of Environmental Sciences. The university building was also damaged by Russian drones on the same day.
New Visual Identity of the Route
Lviv Region also introduced a new identity for the Unified Route, centered around three key concepts:
“See” — to perceive not only ruins but meaning. To be physically and emotionally present.
“Remember” — as collective memory shapes a nation, preserves its shared code, and enables future creation.
“Tell” — so that the nation’s experience, war events, and Russian crimes are not lost to oblivion.
Currently, Lviv Region is preparing proposals for visualizing these locations and developing technical requirements for the project's digitalization.
The route is being formed under the initiative of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, in cooperation with the State Agency for Tourism Development and regional military administrations.
Its goals are to preserve the truth about the Russia-Ukraine war, honor the heroes, build historical memory, and support domestic tourism.
