State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine and PFRU Sign Memorandum of Cooperation

The State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine and the Partnership for a Strong Ukraine (PFRU) have signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at supporting communities affected by the occupation and hostilities through projects of memorialization, recovery, and sustainable development.

The cooperation is based on a common understanding that memorialization is a complex and extremely sensitive process. It is not only about preserving memory, but also about creating spaces that help people comprehend and experience the personal and collective pain caused by the war.

Within the framework of the partnership, SATD and PFRU have already implemented the first joint steps in Irpin and Borodyanka. These projects have become an example of how memory can be combined with the recovery and development of communities.

At the same time, it is important that affected communities do not remain fixed exclusively in trauma. In parallel with the processes of commemoration, they must recover, grow economically and culturally, and form an environment comfortable for the lives of local residents and open to guests from other regions and from abroad.

The "Partnership for a Strong Ukraine" program is a multilateral donor initiative funded by the governments of the United Kingdom, Estonia, Canada, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, and Sweden.

The joint work of SATD and the PFRU program consists in supporting border and frontline communities to make them resilient and self-sufficient in their development.

"We realize the complexity of this path and the scale of the challenges that will have to be faced; however, we and our partners from PFRU are united by common values and a focus on creating a quality result, important primarily for the people," — Head of SATD, Natalya Tabaka.
