Ukraine and the Kingdom of Spain have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of tourism — a document that lays the foundation for systemic and in-depth collaboration between our countries in tourism development.
This Memorandum was initiated back in 2023, but its signing was postponed several times due to technical reasons. The decisive step toward finalizing the process was made during the UN Tourism General Assembly in Riyadh, where the Ukrainian delegation agreed with the Spanish side to sign the document during the official visit of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to Spain.
Today, the document was signed on behalf of Ukraine by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Spain, Ms. Yuliia Sokolovska.
The Memorandum provides for:
“The Memorandum enters into force upon signature and will remain in effect for three years. However, I am convinced that our cooperation will last much longer. Partnership is always about shared vision, mutual support, and the desire to make the world a better place. We thank Spain for its partnership, support, and solidarity. Ahead of us lies a great deal of joint work — and many shared achievements for the tourism sectors of Ukraine and Spain,”
— noted Natalia Tabaka, Head of the State Agency for Tourism Development.
To ensure the implementation of the Memorandum, the parties will establish a Spain–Ukraine Working Group on Tourism, which will regularly assess progress and coordinate joint actions.
Ukraine and Spain will also deepen cooperation within UN Tourism and other international organizations, adhering to the principles of the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism.
